Dislocated shoulder: KSC “longer-term” without veteran Lorenz

During the 1:1 against Hamburger SV, Marc Lorenz of Karlsruher SC dislocated his shoulder. The injury is being treated conservatively.

In its statement on Monday, KSC wrote of a longer-term absence that midfielder Lorenz would now face. The 33-year-old dislocated his left shoulder in the 1-1 draw against HSV on Saturday evening and was substituted. He was then taken to hospital, where his shoulder was put back in place under a short anaesthetic.

The Baden team did not say exactly how long Lorenz would be absent. However, the veteran will not need an operation. This much is certain after an MRI examination on Monday.

“This is the next blow for us, after all the cruciate ligament tears and the injury to Bormuth,” coach Christian Eichner had said directly after the game. Defender Robin Bormuth will not play again this year after an ankle operation.

KSC, who are testing against their Baden rivals SC Freiburg during the international break, will continue their league campaign on 21 November with a match against bottom-placed FC Ingolstadt. Eichner’s team is currently in tenth place in the second division table after three games without a win.
