Despite damaged hand: Raul Fernandez wants to ride again in Jerez

In Portimao, Raul Fernandez skipped the race after his qualifying crash – Just one week later, the Spaniard wants to be back in the mix in Jerez

Moto2 runner-up Raul Fernandez (Tech-3-KTM) was forced to skip the race in Portimao (Portugal) last time out. The Spaniard had crashed in Q1 during qualifying. He bruised his right hand. Nothing was broken, but the pain was too strong, which is why Fernandez decided not to take part in the race.

“First of all I would like to apologise to the team for not being able to race on Sunday in Portimao. It was a difficult decision,” said the MotoGP rookie. After a few days rest, Fernandez wants to try again next weekend in Jerez (Spain).

He already knows the track with the MotoGP bike from the winter test last November. “It will be interesting for our bike. I like the track very much. We will see what we can do regarding my hand, but I will do my best. “

Tech-3 Team Principal Herve Poncharal says of his rider’s situation, “Obviously it was very disappointing that we didn’t have Raul on the grid. He is working hard to make sure he can ride pain-free. It will be interesting to see how he feels on the bike on Friday.”

In the first four races of the season, Fernandez has always seen the chequered flag. However, each time outside the championship points.
