Despite Corona outbreak: Bayern win clearly against Frankfurt

Despite some Corona cases, the FC Bayern basketball players won their home game against Frankfurt clearly on Sunday. Oldenburg, meanwhile, celebrated its next victory under Ingo Freyer and showed itself to be in a very good mood, especially offensively.

The Bavarians won 72:53 (39:18) against the Fraport Skyliners Frankfurt on Sunday and are still ahead of the Telekom Baskets Bonn. The Rhinelanders won at the Basketball Löwen Braunschweig with 95:77 (53:47). Alba Berlin also remain in the lead. The Berliners won against the Crailsheim Merlins with 106:74 (47:39)

There had been a lot of discussion before the Bayern game. Because the Munich team had nine players who tested positive for the corona virus, they had applied for the game to be postponed. However, this request was rejected by the league, which caused annoyance among the Bavarians. “Our lawyers are looking at it. I think it’s wrong that we have to play today,” Bayern general manager Marko Pesic told Magenta Sport before the match. “I’m not asking for a Lex Bayern, I just want to protect my players,” Pesic said.

Despite the numerous absences, however, Bayern still had a decent team together that had no trouble with the Frankfurt team. The hosts decided the first quarter in their favour with 19:4 and thus quickly ensured clear conditions. “I think we put logical things on the table for the BBL. But if someone won’t listen, you stop talking. Karma is undefeated,” Bayern coach Andrea Trinchieri said after the game.

Oldenburg score 110 points

In the bottom of the table, EWE Baskets Oldenburg celebrated their third win in the fourth game under new coach Ingo Freyer. Oldenburg won against Mitteldeutsche BC with 110:93 (56:42) and thus left the last place in the table. As the result already shows, the hosts, with five players scoring twice, were particularly convincing on the offensive.

Alba Berlin also remains at the top. The Berliners won against the Crailsheim Merlins with 106:74 (47:39).
