The Czech women’s tennis team have won the Billie Jean King Cup for the twelfth time. The team led by Wimbledon champion Linda Noskova defeated the Ukrainian side 2–0 in the final of the most prestigious women’s team competition in Shenzhen, China. It is the Czech Republic’s first victory since 2018.
Tennis: Noskova seals the triumph
In the final, Karolina Muchova initially lived up to her role as favourite, beating Anhelina Kalinina 6–2, 6–4. Noskova, who had defeated her team-mate in the final of the grass-court classic in England in July to claim her first Grand Slam title, then sealed the victory early: the world number six defeated Elina Svitolina, ranked one place below her, 6–3, 7–6 (7–5). The final doubles match was not played.
The German women’s tennis team had no part in the final tournament featuring the top eight nations. Following their relegation in November 2025 from the World Group – where places in the final tournament are contested – another setback promptly followed last April. The women’s team now competes solely in Regional Group II.
