Coronavirus infection: Bayern without Musiala in Pilsen

FC Bayern München will have to do without Jamal Musiala for the next few days. The international has contracted the coronavirus and is in domestic isolation

The German champions announced this on Monday morning. Musiala will thus certainly be out for Wednesday night’s Champions League match at Viktoria Pilsen.

With this, the FCB again has to do without an important player due to a corona infection. On Sunday a week ago, Thomas Müller and Joshua Kimmich tested positive. Both of Musiala’s national team colleagues were able to test free in time for Saturday night’s clash with Borussia Dortmund (2:2), but only Kimmich was with BVB. Müller still had to sit out due to minor health problems.

In Pilsen, however, Müller is aiming for his comeback again, Alphonso Davies will be missing due to the skull contusion he suffered in Dortmund. Bayern are still unblemished in the Champions League this season, topping Group C with three wins and a goal difference of 9-0. With a win at the Czech champions and group runners-up, FC Bayern would push the door wide open to the last 16. However, should Barcelona not emerge victorious in the parallel match between FC Barcelona and Inter Milan on Wednesday evening, three points in Plzen would surely mean a ticket to the knockout rounds.
