As revealed in the official trailer for EA SPORTS FC 26, the upcoming spin-off will feature two gameplay versions: competitive and authentic. With this move, the developer aims to satisfy both camps.
Players have rarely agreed on whether EA SPORTS FC gameplay should be faster or slower and therefore more realistic. However, most fans agree that FC 25’s failure to address this duality of needs is one of the game’s major gameplay issues.
In the new trailer for FC 26, EA SPORTS emphasizes almost mantra-like how much the Vancouver team has listened to community feedback. This is certainly also due to the financial losses that FC 25 brought with it at times.
One of the results: FC 26’s gameplay will get two variants.
Two preferences – two versions
On the one hand, there is competitive gameplay, which presumably allows for faster, smoother, and more error-free virtual soccer. This is something that eSports players in particular have been asking for time and again in order to make their success less dependent on the whims of the game.
On the other hand, there’s the authentic gameplay, which is expected to be slower but also more realistic. Tiki-taka one-touch combinations in five seconds from your own penalty area to the opponent’s are likely to become less common.
How big will the difference be?
To estimate how big the difference between the two gameplay versions will really be, we will have to wait for the accompanying deep dive with all the details – if not the release of EA SPORTS FC 26 itself. However, the innovation is likely to trigger euphoria in advance.
The cover of the standard edition of FC 26 is also likely to cause a stir – at least from a German or Bavarian perspective: Jamal Musiala is running onto the virtual pitch alongside Jude Bellingham. In addition, Munich’s Allianz Arena is set to make a comeback in the soccer series.
