Chaz Davies remains loyal to Ducati: New riding coach for Bautista and Rinaldi

After his active career, Chaz Davies will continue to work in the Ducati pit in the World Superbike Championship – The Welshman is to support the riders with his experience

Now after all! Chaz Davies will remain a part of the Ducati family after his active career as a Superbike rider comes to an end. The three-time World Championship runner-up will remain on board as rider coach and support the factory riders with his experience.

Alvaro Bautista and Michael Ruben Rinaldi will attack for the factory team next year. Davies will also be keeping an eye on the Supersport World Championship. In 2011, the Welshman himself became world champion in this class.

Next season Ducati will send a Panigale V2 to the WorldSSP. Ex-Moto2 rider Nicolo Bulega has been signed up. Davies is expected to help the Italian make the transition from prototypes to the production-based bike.

“His experience will certainly be a great help to our riders and allow them to reach their full potential,” said Ducati Team Principal Stefano Cecconi of Davies’ new role with the Italian team.

“His contribution to the Supersport project will be fundamental for both Nicolo and the team, as the Panigale V2 has the DNA of the twin-cylinder Superbikes on which Chaz has achieved outstanding results in recent years. “

Davies has ridden for the Ducati factory team in the World Superbike Championship since 2014. He completed his final season last year in the GoEleven satellite team. Davies won a total of 28 races with Ducati. In total he has been on the podium 89 times as a Ducati rider.

“With the Ducati family I have had the best years of my racing career,” says the 34-year-old. “It will be an interesting perspective to see the action ‘from the other side of the fence’!”

“I believe that with my seven years of experience as a Ducati rider and my knowledge of the Ducati V2 and V4 machines, I am well equipped to contribute to the future success of the team. We have excellent riders for the 2022 campaigns and I will give my all to maximise their potential. “

With 14 World Championship titles among riders and 17 in the constructors’ championship, Ducati is the most successful brand in the World Superbike Championship. The last rider world champion was Carlos Checa in 2011.
