Charles Leclerc surprises Lewis Hamilton with a prank during a media event—the seven-time world champion’s reaction delights fans worldwide
Ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton drew attention with a humorous moment off the track. A video released by Ferrari went viral on social media within a short time.
The video first shows Hamilton at routine media appearances, signing team caps, among other things. At the same time, Leclerc quietly snatches a large boom mic and holds it through a doorframe directly over his teammate’s head.
Hamilton notices the sudden interruption and initially reacts with visible annoyance. He pushes the mic aside before Leclerc reveals himself from behind the door. His annoyance immediately gives way to laughter.
The seven-time Formula 1 world champion playfully retaliates against the prank, threatening to use the nearby camera to publicly reveal one of Leclerc’s favorite pizza toppings. Laughing, the Monegasque driver quickly backs away and says, “Not on camera! I’m taking my microphone with me. I still have some work to do, LH!”
Fans react enthusiastically to the scene
The scene also sparked numerous reactions on social media. “Lewis looked really angry at first, haha. Now I know what he looked like under his helmet last year,” writes one user on Reddit. Another comments: “If you look closely, it’s even funnier. He probably thought it was the Netflix team. It’s only when he realizes it’s Charles that he starts laughing.”
Yet another user writes: “The way he just pushes the microphone away and seems more slightly annoyed than actually angry suggests this isn’t the first time something like this has happened to him.”
Hamilton’s playful reaction also went over well with fans. “Threatening to publicly reveal his questionable pizza preferences in a building full of Italians is pretty mean,” reads another comment. Another user jokes: “Oh no, this is guaranteed to spark new conspiracy theories. F1-Pizzagate.”
