Captain Neuer trains again – Rüdiger missing

Manuel Neuer is back on the pitch. The Bayern keeper took part in the DFB team’s final training session at Millerntor. In contrast to Antonio Rüdiger.

Neuer had to pull out of the game against Romania (2:1) due to injury, Marc-André ter Stegen was the goalkeeper in the 2-1 win for the German national team. At the training session on Saturday morning, only Bernd Leno was available from the originally nominated goalkeeper trio, so HSV keeper Daniel Heuer Fernandes helped out at the HSV training ground at short notice.

At the final training session at the Millerntor, however, Heuer Fernandes’ services were no longer needed and Neuer was once again seen wearing goalkeeper’s gloves. The 35-year-old had recently been struggling with adductor problems.

Antonio Rüdiger, on the other hand, was unable to train. The Chelsea FC defender, who was in the starting eleven against Romania, was absent due to back problems. At the press conference following the training session at noon, Hansi Flick will certainly reveal details about Rüdiger’s condition.

In the afternoon (16.15 hrs), the DFB team will travel to northern Macedonia, where they will be challenged in the World Cup qualifiers on Monday (20.45 hrs, LIVE! on kicker).
