Balde made the leap from the FC Barcelona youth team to the first team, where he is currently a regular. Now the 21-year-old has sustained a thigh injury.
It’s hard to imagine the first eleven of FC Barcelona without Balde. The Catalan native has played a total of 84 games for coach Hansi Flick’s team since 2021 and has played in 47 games this season alone, 37 of them in the starting lineup.
Time off depends on recovery process
Now the club announced that the full-back has suffered an injury to the left, posterior thigh muscle. How long the 21-year-old will be out for will therefore depend on the recovery process and could not be specified more precisely.
In the most recent La Liga game against CD Leganes (1-0), the Spaniard had to be substituted after a tackle in the 41st minute. Gerard Martin came on for him.
FC Barcelona are in good form
This means that the Catalan-born Barca will not be available for the upcoming second leg of the Champions League quarter-final at Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday either. However, with the 4-0 first-leg win, Flick’s team left BVB with little chance of a comeback at Signal-Iduna-Park anyway.
In La Liga, Barcelona have also been riding a wave of success for months. The Blaugrana’s last defeat came on December 21 against Atletico Madrid (1:2). Currently, the Catalans are ranked first with 70 points, seven points ahead of Real Madrid, who, however, have played one game less.
