Bruun Larsen and the third restart

Jacob Bruun Larsen is back. After weeks of rest due to muscular problems, the Dane resumed training at the start of the second half of the season. For the offensive specialist, it is in a way the third new start in the Kraichgau.

Bruun Larsen, who arrived from BVB in January 2020, struggled in his first half-season, which was interrupted by the Corona break. The 2020/21 season did not go well either, and in the winter the 23-year-old let himself be loaned out to RSC Anderlecht in Belgium.

Then, after the EURO, Bruun Larsen’s star seemed to rise in Hoffenheim: The Scandinavian scored on each of the first two matchdays, and he also managed a goal on matchday 7 in the 3-1 defeat in Stuttgart. But he had already lost his regular place under Sebastian Hoeneß after the 0:0 in Bielefeld two weeks earlier, and from the beginning of November onwards injury slowed him down. Will Bruun Larsen now make a lasting impression? There is no question that he has what it takes.

As expected, compatriot Robert Skov was absent at the start of training due to his thigh injury, as was Ermin Bicakcic, who also has a long-term injury (backlog in training due to a torn cruciate ligament), and Diadie Samassekou, the Malian player in the Africa Cup. In addition, Coach Hoeneß will still have to do without Melayro Bogarde, who will not arrive at the training centre in Zuzenhausen until Wednesday due to a private appointment. It is unclear, however, how long Havard Nordtveit, Kasim Adams (both flu) and Sargis Adamyan (quarantine after Corona case in private) will have to rest.
