After the brutal first fight, the heavyweight champion made short work of him this time.

British boxing star Daniel Dubois retains his WBO heavyweight world title following a demonstration of his power. The 29-year-old also won the rematch against his compatriot Fabio Wardley in London by technical knockout in the second round, celebrating his 24th victory in 27 professional fights – two of Dubois’s three defeats had come against the Ukrainian superstar Alexander Usyk.

“I had bad intentions right from the start. I just wanted to go out there and show him that I take this business seriously. And that’s exactly how it went,” said Dubois. He now wants the really big fights – the “money fights”, as he put it. Fights against Anthony Joshua or Tyson Fury are on the cards.

In his first fight against Wardley in May, Dubois had been knocked down twice early on, but eventually scraped a victory by stoppage after eleven rounds in a brutal battle in the ring. This time, he sent Wardley – who had been undefeated prior to their first encounter – to the canvas after just 17 rounds and never let there be any doubt about his dominance.
