Bosz lashes out at referee: ‘He is a liar’

The disciplinary committee of the French Football Association has not yet responded, but it is very likely that Peter Bosz will be reprimanded and/or punished. The coach of Olympique Lyon called referee Ruddy Buquet ‘a liar’ at his press conference.

Buquet was in charge of the competition between Lyon and Olympique Marseille a month ago and quickly saw things get out of hand. Dimitri Payet was hit by a bottle of water thrown from the stands when he wanted to take a corner in the fifth minute. After much deliberation , the match was eventually stopped . Lyon was penalized with a point deduction and the game will have to be played again in an empty stadium.

After the disturbances of the past few months ( because things went wrong not only at Lyon-Marseille ), the French Football Association has adjusted the regulations somewhat. From now on, if a player or an umpire is hit by an object thrown from the crowd, the match will be stopped immediately. Finishing the game after an interruption is therefore no longer an option.

At his press conference in the run-up to the cup match with Paris FC on Friday evening, Bosz was asked for his opinion on this. “At least it’s clear now,” the coach replied. “It wasn’t against Marseille. What I didn’t like that night is that the referee wasn’t telling the truth. Even though I don’t speak French very well, I understood very well that he said he wanted to resume the race. He’s a liar.’

Buquet now states that he always intended to strike, but according to Bosz, that is not true. The coach said this before: Bosz stated that the match was only stopped because Marseille refused to continue playing football. “And now we are the ones who are being punished, ” the trainer grumbled .
