Syntainics MBC has found a successor for head coach Milenko Bogicevic. The Serbian is leaving the Weißenfels-based club at his own request and will be replaced by his compatriot Vladimir Jovanovic.
The 42-year-old is moving from the Serbian Basketball Federation to the Wolves and has signed a contract with the 2025 Cup champions that runs through the end of the upcoming season.
Jovanovic most recently served as an assistant coach on the staff of the Serbian national team. Prior to that, he coached the top Polish club Zastal BC Zielona Gora during the 2024–25 season. The coach’s other stops included FMP Belgrade, Red Star Belgrade, Cibona Zagreb, and Igokea Aleksandrovac. With Igokea, Jovanovic won the national championship in 2023 and 2024, as well as the cup in 2023. He also gained experience in the EuroLeague.
“I’ve been following Vladimir’s career for several years. He brings a high level of professional expertise and international experience,” said MBC Sports Director Silvano Poropat: “I’m delighted that he has decided to come to the Bundesliga and join us in Weißenfels.” Jovanovic is expected to help drive the team’s roster planning forward.
Bogicevic had only arrived in Weißenfels in mid-February and led the MBC to ten wins in 19 games. Highlights included victories over Bayern Munich and Alba Berlin. The season ended with the MBC finishing in 13th place.
