Bielefeld’s Klos suspended for two games

Bielefeld’s Fabian Klos had a bitter day in Leipzig and will have to watch the next two games after receiving a red card

The day didn’t start well for Klos when he was told he wouldn’t be in the starting line-up in Leipzig. When he was substituted at 1:0 for Janni Serra, who was fulfilling a childhood dream, the tide seemed to turn for him only briefly.

Ten minutes later, however, he saw an outright red after VAR intervened following a foul on Willi Orban. “Then came the red card for Fabian Klos, where I’m sure many thought it could tip over now,” recalled attacker Florian Krüger: “But we still stayed together as a team and took the chance we got. In the end, we put everything into it as a team. “

At least the three points and the completely surprising 2:0 victory should be a consolation for the unfortunate Klos. The striker has now been given the minimum penalty of two games by the DFB. He is thus the first Bielefeld player to be sent off at least once in the top three leagues.

As a result of the ban, Klos will miss the games at SC Freiburg (8 January) and against SpVgg Greuther Fürth (16 January) after the short winter break. The 34-year-old will theoretically not be allowed to play again until 21 January in Frankfurt.
