The sale of Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface has been verbally and completely negotiated. But at Bayer, they waited in vain for the signed contracts from Al-Nassr late Tuesday night. Allegedly, the Arabs are in parallel transfer talks with another club.
It’s about a transfer fee that’s close to 70 million euros. This is the amount that Bayer 04 and the Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr agreed on Tuesday for the transfer of Leverkusen center forward Victor Boniface. Everything has been settled. The Nigerian international has even successfully passed the medical check. There is no longer any obstacle between the three parties to get the deal over the line.
The transfer contract still had to be drawn up in writing and signed. But it was precisely these signatures that the Bayer officials waited for in vain on Tuesday evening. So at least there is a question mark over the transfer again.
Logically, Al-Nassr would consider an alternative.
The reason for this is likely to be that Al-Nassr was also negotiating with Aston Villa about striker Jhon Duran at the same time as the talks with Bayer, as reported by L’Equipe. This is said to be a 70 million deal. And it is at least unlikely that the Arabs would sign two such high-caliber and expensive center forwards.
It is logical that Al-Nassr would be working on an alternative to Boniface. After all, Bayer had always made the sale of the Nigerian dependent on getting a replacement for the 24-year-old. With the transfer window in Saudi Arabia closing on Thursday, Al-Nassr had to prepare for this eventuality. Now, everything seems to depend on the decision of the Arabs: For Duran, if an agreement is reached there, or for Boniface.
On the other hand, the loan of defender Mario Hermoso from AS Roma is about to be finalized. The 29-year-old is expected to undergo a medical check in Leverkusen on Wednesday and will be on loan until the end of the season. The loan agreement with the Romans does not include a purchase option.
