BAK now BFC chasers

BFC and BAK swapped first and second place in the standings at the weekend ahead of the capital city clash for the top spot in the Regionalliga Nordost – and the omens for the direct duel have also changed.

“Spitzenreiter, Spitzenreiter, hey, hey” resounded through BFC Dynamo’s Sportforum on Friday evening. The 2:0 win over chasing Altglienicke was actually enough for BFC Dynamo to jump to the top of the Regionalliga Nordost – because Berliner AK, previously top of the league, simultaneously lost 3:1 at Rathenow, who had previously been bottom of the league. The two scorers of the new league leaders from Lichtenberg were correspondingly enthusiastic: “I think this also gives us another push for the next two games, which will be very difficult again,” said Andreas Wiegel, assessing Friday’s results, while Michael Blum saw the defeat of the rivals as a “good thing for us”.

Fans, celebrations, preparation

According to Wiegel, the spectators also played their part in the success against Altglienicke: “We are happy that we were able to get the win today. With the fans behind us, it’s always more fun. That’s not a given at these times. We hope to do the same in the next games.” Blum, however, did not want to allow celebrations to get too out of hand: “Now we have the English week and the direct duel. We have to prepare well for that – which we have done quite well so far this season. “

Corona and the consequences at BAK

After the surprising defeat in Rathenow, the focus at Berliner AK was initially on finding explanations. BAK coach André Meyer found them in two circumstances: “We have the situation with all players that they come directly from illness, quarantine or injury. Many players are not at 100 per cent,” said the coach about the consequences of the numerous cases of corona at BAK, which had initially led to the cancellation of the top match, which will now be made up. Because of this disadvantage, Meyer said BAK had “reached our limits due to the external conditions”.

Jindaoui contradicts and confirms

Top scorer Nader Jindaoui contradicted his coach in parts: “Both teams play on the same pitch. There are no excuses at the end: We’re playing against the last-placed team and we have to win the game,” the 25-year-old said clearly, noting: “We should have scored more goals and conceded less. Now we have to learn from it and do better.” But even the eleven-goal man had to confirm that “I and the team were not at 100 per cent after the break”.

That’s exactly where Coach Meyer wants to get his players back to “as quickly as possible”. Preferably by Tuesday evening. Maybe then “Spitzenreiter, Spitzenreiter, hey, hey” will resound through the capital again – but this time in Moabit.
