The player from Kempen lost to France’s Corentin Moutet in two close sets.
Professional tennis player Daniel Altmaier was eliminated in the round of 16 at the ATP tournament in Mallorca.
The 26-year-old from Kempen lost his second match 6-7 (3-7), 6-7 (3-7) to Corentin Moutet from France in his dress rehearsal for the grass court highlight at Wimbledon (starting June 30).
In the first round, the eighth-seeded German defeated Italian veteran Fabio Fognini.
Altmaier was eliminated in the first round of the tournament in Halle last week by Daniil Medvedev, who went on to reach the final, and had previously reached the round of 16 at the French Open in Paris after some strong performances.
Altmaier is one of only three German men in the main draw at Wimbledon, alongside Alexander Zverev and Jan-Lennard Struff.
