After two 5-0 wins in a row: Leno extends his contract at Fulham

The time as a reserve at Arsenal FC? Long gone. Bernd Leno is important again in the Premier League. It’s only logical that the German goalkeeper has now extended his contract at Fulham FC

Bernd Leno’s new contract with Fulham FC now runs until 2027, as the Cottagers announced on Wednesday evening. The club can even extend it until 2028. The German would then be 36 years old, a completely realistic age for a goalkeeper. “I have the feeling that I still have a few good years ahead of me,” he was quoted as saying in the club’s statement.

Leno has played for Fulham since 2022 and has since made 52 of 52 possible Premier League appearances. Having previously lost his starting place at Arsenal FC to Aaron Ramsdale, the former Stuttgart and Leverkusen man is enjoying life as a professional footballer again

No keeper has scored more times this season

“I heard about the club’s offer during the last international break,” said Leno. “It didn’t take long, because I think all parties are very happy. “

The club are in eleventh place in the table and have recently recorded two 5-0 wins in a row: against Nottingham and West Ham. No keeper has kept more clean sheets than him in the current Premier League season: five times.

The 31-year-old has also been regularly called up to the national team, most recently in the defeats against Turkey and Austria. Leno made his last of nine appearances for the DFB’s senior team in September 2021 against Liechtenstein (2:0).
