ÖFB player Stefan Schwab is leaving PAOK Saloniki after five years and two titles.
“He arrived as a man and five years later he leaves as a champion, cup winner and captain.” With these words, PAOK Saloniki begins its Instagram post bidding farewell to Stefan Schwab. A “long and beautiful journey” has come to an end, with Schwab leaving the club as “an exceptional footballer, an impeccable professional and a wonderful person.”
Schwab joined PAOK in the summer of 2020 as captain of Rapid and played a total of 241 competitive games for the top Greek club. In his first year, he won the cup with the black and whites from the port city of Thessaloniki, and in 2024 he and his teammates even won the Greek championship. In his five years on the Aegean coast, the midfielder contributed 34 goals and 23 assists.
Schwab is thus opening a new chapter in his career at the age of 34. Or perhaps an old one. There had been repeated speculation in recent transfer windows that the Salzburg native would return to Rapid.
