After confusion: LASK receives license for the coming season

The protest committee of the Austrian Bundesliga has upheld LASK’s appeal and granted the Upper Austrians a license for the 2024/25 season

LASK received its license for the upcoming season on Wednesday. As the Athletiker and the Austrian Bundesliga announced in press releases, the current third-placed team’s protest was upheld. This means that all twelve Bundesliga clubs now have a license to play for the 2024/25 season.

Last Friday, LASK were denied a license in the first instance due to the confusion surrounding the new head coach. The Black & Whites immediately lodged a protest against the “incomprehensible and arbitrary” decision of Senate 5 – and have now received the license with a slight delay

Clubs that were not granted a license or approval for the 2024/25 season in the first instance have until 22 April to lodge a protest. Following the positive decision for LASK, this now only applies to clubs from the 2nd division downwards. The decisions of the protest committee will subsequently be made by April 29
