On Deadline Day, Eintracht Frankfurt managed to offload another player looking to leave: After a year and a half in the city on the Main, Jean-Matteo Bahoya is heading to Leeds United on a loan with an obligation to buy.
Initially, Premier League newcomer Hull City was interested in Jean-Matteo Bahoya, but a transfer didn’t materialize because the Frenchman rejected the offer—much to Frankfurt’s chagrin. On Deadline Day, interest from Leeds United—coached by Daniel Farke—was announced. Ultimately, the clubs agreed to a loan with an obligation to buy. This represents a major transfer profit for Eintracht Frankfurt, as the Hessian club had paid only around eight million euros to Angers in January 2024 to sign the winger.
“Jean-Matteo Bahoya has developed very well at Eintracht Frankfurt and has gradually reached the international level. The move to Leeds now marks a new stage in his career,” explains sporting director Timmo Hardung on the Frankfurt club’s website. “We thank him for his dedication and commitment. We wish him all the best for the future.”
In Frankfurt, Bahoya played a total of 59 Bundesliga matches (5 goals). He also appeared eight times in the Champions League, nine times in the Europa League (one goal), and twice in the DFB Cup (one goal). Before joining Eintracht, the winger was developed at Angers SCO in France.
