There is still no end in sight to the talks between FC Bayern and the superstar. However, both sides remain confident.
Patience is still required regarding the contract extension for Bayern Munich’s superstar Harry Kane. “There are no new developments at present. The talks are going well; we are very, very positive. Everyone knows that we’re absolutely keen to extend Harry’s contract. He feels extremely at home here, but we’ve said that many times before,” emphasised sporting director Christoph Freund on Friday.
Talks with the top goalscorer about extending his contract beyond 2027 have been dragging on for weeks. Kane himself had recently expressed hope that a conclusion was imminent. “We’re pretty close. I feel at home here. It won’t be too long before there’s an announcement,” said the 33-year-old, referring to “open discussions”.
Apparently, there are still some details to be ironed out, such as the length of the contract. An extension until at least 2029 is on the table. Kane has been playing in Munich since 2023. Most recently, the English striker broke the 100-Bundesliga-goal mark – after just 98 matches.
Bayern manager Vincent Kompany had also commented on the Kane situation ahead of Saturday’s Bundesliga derby at FC Augsburg. “I always treat this situation with respect, and as for this dance that has to take place: the player, the agent, the club. My responsibility in this matter is simply to ensure that Harry feels at home here, that he performs well on the pitch, or at the very least that he has an environment where he can do so,” Kompany told Sky/RTL, adding: “Most of the time, when that’s right, the other things tend to fall into place a bit more easily.”
