The Manchester City case enters its next chapter: as expected, the Citizens have lodged an appeal within the deadline and challenged the Premier League’s ruling.
Manchester City had until Friday to act, and the club did so on Thursday. As the Citizens announced on Friday afternoon, they lodged a “comprehensive appeal against the Premier League Commission’s statement regarding the Premier League disciplinary matter” on 1 October 2026 at 7.00 pm.
” The club firmly believes that the report contains clear and material errors in law, principle and fact for a number of reasons and is therefore flawed”, states the public letter from the runners-up.
Last Tuesday, Man City were found guilty on all 115 charges by an independent Premier League commission for a number of financial breaches between 2009 and 2018.
However, the Sky Blues maintain: “The club is innocent and there is a comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence supporting all its positions in this case. We will continue to respect the principles of due process and are inevitably restricted in our comments until all proceedings have been concluded.”
