Tennis icons Serena and Venus Williams will compete together at the Cincinnati Masters. The hard-court tournament is considered an important warm-up for the U.S. Open.
Tennis icons Serena and Venus Williams will team up in doubles at the Cincinnati Masters for the first time in nearly four years. The organizers of the hard-court tournament awarded the sisters a wild card into the main draw.
Venus Williams is also scheduled to compete in singles. The tournament, taking place August 8–23, is considered one of the major tests ahead of the U.S. Open.
The Williams sisters are among the most successful doubles teams in history
Serena (44) and Venus Williams (46) are among the most successful doubles teams in tennis history. Together, the American sisters have won 14 Grand Slam doubles titles and three Olympic gold medals. Their most recent doubles appearance together was at the 2022 U.S. Open.
Serena Williams recently made her highly anticipated singles comeback at Wimbledon after a break of about four years; prior to that, she had competed in doubles at London’s Queens Club and in Berlin.
Serena also has a successful track record in Cincinnati. She last competed there in 2022, losing to Emma Raducanu, the reigning U.S. Open champion at the time. The former world No. 1 won the singles tournament in Cincinnati in 2014 and 2015.
