HRT Ford driver Finn Wiebelhaus set the fastest time in the first practice session of the ADAC GT Masters at the Lausitzring
Strong debut for the Haupt Racing Team’s new Ford Mustang GT3. Finn Wiebelhaus set the fastest time on Friday with a lap of 1:20.348 minutes at the start of the 2025 ADAC GT Masters season at the Lausitzring. “We are still learning something new about the car every day. The grip conditions on the track were very good this morning and my lap was also okay. That gives me a good feeling for tomorrow,” said Wiebelhaus, who shares his car with Salman Owega.
Due to repair work on the track, the first practice session had to be interrupted and resumed after a lengthy delay. However, no one was able to match the HRT driver’s best time – neither after the session resumed nor in the shortened second practice session.
Leo Pichler (razoon) set the second fastest lap of the day. The Austrian drove a time of 1:20.501 minutes in his Porsche 911 GT3 R. “The day went really well. We did two qualifying simulations and a long run. We found the right setup for the weekend and I’m looking forward to finally getting started,” explained Pichler, who is driving alongside Simon Birch. ”I think it’s great that we’re now doing so many endurance races, it makes the championship even more exciting.”
Tim Zimmermann and Leyton Fourie (FK Performance) rounded out the top three. The two drivers in the BMW M4 GT3 Evo finished in the top three in both practice sessions. Fourth place went to Julian Hanses (FK Performance) in another BMW. Niklas Kalus (Haupt Racing Team) completed the top five, setting the fastest time of the afternoon with 1:20.834 minutes.
On Saturday morning, the drivers of the ADAC’s GT3 junior league will start their first qualifying session of the season at 8:30 a.m. This will decide who will start from pole position in the first championship race at 2:10 p.m. The drivers who compete in Saturday’s qualifying will drive the first and third stints in the 80-minute endurance race. Their teammates will take over after the first pit stop.
The qualifying and the race will be broadcast live on the ADAC Motorsport channel at youtube.com/@ADACMotorsports in German and English. Fans can also stream the first race of the season on Joyn or ServusTV ON or watch it later on demand.
