On September 9, fists will fly again in 2XKO – Riot is launching the next test phase. Interested players can still register before the start.
After revealing Jinx as the new champion for 2XKO, Riot Games went quiet for a while. Now the developer is back with an announcement – and registration for a closed beta phase is now open. During earlier tests, the developer explained how it plans to shake up the fighting game genre.
Closed beta initially only on PC
Anyone who wants to participate in the closed beta must register on the official 2XKO website. It starts on September 9 – worldwide and initially only on PC. After the first wave of invitations, the game will remain online permanently, with further beta access following gradually. The developer is thus opting for a staggered approach, similar to the launch of Valorant.
During the beta, Riot Games will be testing its backend systems on a large scale for the first time, which is why 2XKO will initially only run on Windows. The game is also set to be released on consoles at a later date, at which point progress and content will be transferable. Crossplay will also be possible.
Those who took part in the earlier tests are in luck: these players are automatically unlocked for the closed beta.
With the announcement of the closed beta, Riot Games also unveiled the latest champion for 2XKO: Vi. This comes as no surprise to fans – after all, two “Arcane” characters are already in the game in the form of Jinx and Ekko – and Vi herself is known for her fists in League of Legends.
This means that eight playable characters have now been confirmed: Ahri, Ekko, Yasuo, Darius, Illaoi, Braum, Jinx, and Vi. Ten champions are planned for release, with more to follow after launch.
Why so few? Game Director Shaun Rivera explains the decision by saying that they would rather release the game earlier and expand it gradually than keep fans waiting. A final release date has not yet been set. However, the developer promises on its website that the game will be released in 2025.
