Venus Williams is still waiting for a win. At the Cincinnati Open, the tennis icon suffered another decisive defeat, extending her remarkable losing streak.
Venus Williams is still unable to break out of her slump in singles. The 46-year-old American lost her opening match at the Cincinnati Open to Colombia’s Emiliana Arango 2-6, 2-6, suffering her 14th consecutive singles loss.
The seven-time Grand Slam champion entered the WTA 1000 tournament on a wild card but stood little chance against the world No. 95. Arango converted four of five break points and secured the victory in just 1:05 hours.
Venus Williams will still compete alongside her sister Serena
Williams has now been waiting for a singles victory since July 2025. She celebrated her most recent win last year at the tournament in Washington against Peyton Stearns.
Despite this latest setback, Williams will remain in Cincinnati. She will compete in doubles alongside her sister, Serena Williams.
The two last played together at the 2022 U.S. Open.
