Young “stars” led by Edwards dominate US finals at All-Star tournament

The 2026 All-Star Game – or rather All-Star tournament – is in the books. After four games in the preliminary and final rounds, the young stars led by Anthony Edwards ultimately prevailed. However, it was the improved competition that made the bigger headlines.

Two wins out of three games were enough for Team Stars to win the All-Star Tournament. However, this was much harder to achieve than one might initially assume.

In the opening game, which was characterized by high intensity, the Stars narrowly defeated Team World. With the clock running down and trailing by one point, Raptors big man Scottie Barnes scored the decisive basket to seal the victory.

In the second game, the Stars were narrowly defeated by their compatriots on Team Stripes. This was preceded by a furious comeback by the young stars in the final minute. However, a cool three-pointer by Fox sealed the victory for the Stripes, who remained undefeated in the final game of the preliminary round.

Kawhi Leonard was largely responsible for this, scoring an incredible 31 of his team’s 48 points. In the final, however, the Clippers player completely disappeared and missed all his attempts from the field. The Stars ultimately won the tournament because they had played with seemingly greater intensity. Anthony Edwards was named MVP.
