In his final wrestling match on home soil, John Cena wins a title that was missing from his collection – and there are plenty of other exciting developments at WWE RAW.
Record title holder in the wrestling world with 17 reigns as WWE (World) Champion, the biggest star and cash cow in the industry for years, and now also a sought-after Hollywood actor – but there was one small thing John Cena was still missing.
33 days before his very last match as a show fighter, the 48-year-old closed a gap in his resume on the latest edition of the TV show Monday Night RAW in his hometown of Boston: for the first time in his 26-year ring career, he won the traditional Intercontinental Title. It was the central news item in a turbulent show in which events otherwise came thick and fast.
WWE RAW: John Cena completes the Grand Slam
Cena won the belt from the previous title holder Dominik Mysterio in the opening match of RAW – his last appearance in the ring in his native region: He defeated Rey Mysterio’s son by countering the Frog Splash, a move he learned from the late Eddie Guerrero, rolling Mysterio onto his own shoulders and pinning him.

Cena thus completed the WWE “Grand Slam” late in his career – winning a World Title, a Tag Team Title and the two traditional belts, United States and Intercontinental.
Cena will not hold his last title for long, with only three WWE appearances left for the legend: Cena is still announced for the next RAW from the venerable Madison Square Garden in New York, the Survivor Series on November 29 in San Diego, and finally the TV special Saturday Night’s Main Event in Washington on December 13.
In his last match, Cena will face the winner of the “Last Time is Now Tournament.” The designated winner and thus probably also Cena’s designated heir as champion is reportedly Austrian star Gunther.
The “War Games” are taking shape
With an eye on the upcoming top events, WWE also set other major courses: The two “War Games Matches” are official for Survivor Series – although the complete line-up is not yet known.
As expected, World Champion CM Punk leads a team of men that faced off against the new alliance of Logan Paul and The Vision (Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed). Punk received support on RAW from Jey Uso and WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, whose actual main rival, Drew McIntyre, temporarily removed himself from the action on Friday’s SmackDown due to a (storyline) suspension.

There was also a title change in the women’s division, which led to a WarGames announcement: The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane) dethroned the reigning Tag Team Champions Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss in the main event of RAW with unfair help from the new duo of Nia Jax and Lash Legend – a former college basketball player who was officially promoted to the main roster on Friday’s SmackDown.
As Asuka, Sane, Jax, and Legend continued to beat up the defeated champions, they were joined by Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky—the second cage brawl was then also made official.

Another major piece of news that was revealed earlier: Women’s Champion Stephanie Vaquer was the victim of an attack by WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella, who made a “heel turn” into the role of villain and set her sights on Vaquer.
