Verstappen loses, Piastri shines: The new ratings in F1 25

In F1 25, the development team has adjusted the driver ratings. Max Verstappen loses points but remains at the top. However, the competition is closing in.

Red Bull is currently going through a difficult phase. Max Verstappen is currently only third in the drivers’ standings. The team is also far from a title in the constructors’ standings, with Red Bull in fourth place. In addition, the departure of long-time team boss Christian Horner was recently announced.

These developments are not only affecting Formula 1, but also the racing simulation F1 25. For the Belgian Grand Prix, the development team has revised the driver ratings, including those for Verstappen. The Dutchman originally started with an overall rating of 96, but has now lost three points. With 93 points, he remains the highest-rated driver in the game, but the competition is closing in.

George Russell is now in second place in the rankings with 91 points. Since the game’s release, he has increased his rating by four points. He shares this position with both McLaren drivers. This represents a significant jump for Oscar Piastri: he was rated 84 at the start of the game. His rating has been adjusted based on his performances – he is currently considered a contender for the world championship title.

Nico Hülkenberg also made gains. At the British Grand Prix, he finished third in the 239th race of his career, securing his first podium finish. His consistent performances, especially in the comparatively weak Sauber, led to a three-point increase in his rating to 85.

Verstappen to Mercedes in the future?

Given the misery at Red Bull, Verstappen’s future is also uncertain at the moment. Recently, there has been repeated speculation about a move to Mercedes AMG.

However, the four-time world champion avoided making any clear statements: “There is also the possibility that I won’t wake up tomorrow. Then I won’t drive at all,” replied the Dutchman at a press conference ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix when asked whether he could leave Red Bull at the end of the year: “Life is unpredictable, but I’m happy where I am.”

Verstappen still has a valid contract with Red Bull until the end of 2028, but is reportedly unhappy with the current situation.
