The NBA has postponed two games scheduled for Sunday. The reason for the postponement is the severe winter storm affecting large parts of the US.
One of the games affected is the match between the Memphis Grizzlies and Denver Nuggets, which was originally scheduled to start at 9:30 p.m. German time.
The game between the Dallas Mavericks and Milwaukee Bucks has also been canceled. The Mavericks were unable to fly to Wisconsin on Sunday as planned. The league is considering February 19 as an alternative date.
The winter storm has affected the south, Midwest, and east coast of the United States. According to official figures, 190 million US residents are affected. The states and the US government have asked US residents to stay at home if possible. According to the website poweroutage.us, which collects data from energy suppliers, more than one million electricity customers in the United States were affected by power outages on Sunday.
The (possible) postponements are expressly unrelated to the events surrounding the fatal police shootings in Minneapolis. For this reason, the game between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Golden State Warriors was postponed until Sunday.
