Theis scores double digits against Dubai – Lo and Zalgiris defeat EuroLeague champions Fenerbahce

Following Bayern’s victory yesterday, the remaining games of the second EuroLeague match day will take place today. Among others, Maodo Lo and Zalgiris will face Fenerbahce. In addition, Daniel Theis and Monaco are expecting a tough game against league newcomers Dubai Basketball.

Lo and Zalgiris defeat EuroLeague winners Fenerbahce

Zalgiris Kaunas made another statement on the second matchday of the EuroLeague. After defeating Monaco, the Lithuanians now also defeated reigning champions Fenerbahce Istanbul. Zalgiris led for almost the entire game, with a maximum lead of 14 points. In the end, the game became exciting again, with the Turks even taking the lead three minutes before the end thanks to the outstanding Baldwin IV (36, 14/22). Nigel Williams-Goss sealed the deal at the free throw line. German national player Maodo Lo scored four points and three rebounds.

Efes collapses after the break, Hapoel beats another top opponent

EuroLeague newcomer Hapoel Tel Aviv has beaten its second top opponent in a row. After a 16-point win against Barcelona, the Israelis now prevailed against Anadolu Efes by 12 points. Last season’s TOP FOUR participant completely collapsed in the second half, scoring only 23 points after the break. This was also due to the fact that they were heavily dependent on Jordan Lloyd (25) for production.
The visitors had a more balanced lineup, with four players scoring in double digits: Blakeney (17), Bryant (15), Oturu (12), and Wainright (11). Germany’s Nick Weiler-Babb (Efes) scored four points, three rebounds, and three assists.

AS Monaco secured its first victory in the second EuroLeague game of the new season. Newcomer Dubai Basketball put up a long fight against the principality, but had to let up in the second half. Monaco dominated, especially in the big positions. Nikola Mirotic scored 19 points, Daniel Theis added 15 points (5/6).
