Tennis dream team begs for wild card

The US Open announces the pairs for its revolutionary mixed doubles tournament. A tennis dream team is publicly begging for a wild card.

With 14 of 16 pairs already announced for the US Open’s revolutionary mixed doubles tournament, a tennis dream team is now begging for a wild card.

Australian Alex de Minaur and his British partner Katie Boulter are throwing their hats into the ring via the short message service X. The Australian de Minaur and the British Boulter have been a couple since March 2020. They have been engaged since December 2024 and are planning their wedding.

Boulter is currently ranked 43rd in the world, but was once ranked 23rd. Her partner de Minaur is even higher up the rankings and is currently eighth in the world.

De Minaur wrote on X: “Katie and I would like to ask for a wild card, please, please, please.” The Australian accompanied his post with a sad face and praying hands.

Since the former tennis dream couple Stefanos Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa did not register together, fueling rumors of a breakup, de Minaur and Boulter would be the only couple in the tournament.

The competition will begin before the singles matches for the first time and will be held over two days (August 19 and 20). In addition, the matches will be significantly shortened. Each set will be played over four games without advantage. At 4:4, a tiebreak will follow. The third set will be played as a match tiebreak to ten. There will also be major changes to the prize money. There will be one million dollars for the winning pair.
