“Tell me what he said”: Fan anger over Dennis Schröder during Cavs defeat

During the Cleveland Cavaliers’ defeat against the Detroit Pistons, there was anger over a fan who allegedly insulted Dennis Schröder.

The scene took place in the middle of the fourth quarter with the score at 98:92 for the Cavs. The German stopped play and pointed angrily at a Detroit fan sitting in the front row who had apparently insulted him. Pistons coach JB Bickerstaff, under whom Schröder played in Detroit last season, immediately intervened and tried to calm the 32-year-old down.

“Tell me what he said, tell me what he said,” Bickerstaff said to Schröder. After the guard explained, the two went to the referees and explained the incident. The fan was then ejected from the arena by security officials and missed the rest of the game.

Cavs let game slip away, Schröder weak

After the incident, the Cavaliers actually let the game slip away in a dramatic final phase, even though Schröder had given his team a decisive lead with a strong drive 36 seconds before the end.

Otherwise, Schröder, who was allowed to start again in the absence of James Harden and Donovan Mitchell, did not have a good game: he made only four of his 15 shots from the field and committed eight turnovers. His plus-minus rating of -15 was also the worst on his team.

With a record of 37-24, the Cavs are in fourth place in the East, but already 8.5 games behind the Pistons, who are comfortably leading the conference.
