Real Madrid will start the 2025/26 season with two prominent English players in its squad: After months of negotiations, the Royal Club has confirmed that Trent Alexander-Arnold will move to the Spanish capital in the summer.
Jude Bellingham will be getting some support from the island in the future, that much is now official. Real Madrid has announced that Trent Alexander-Arnold, another English international, is moving to the Spanish capital. The signing of the 26-year-old can certainly be seen as a coup – after all, the Liverpool youth product is coming from the English champions for relatively little money.
After his contract at Anfield Road expired, Alexander-Arnold would have been available on a free transfer, but Real will use the right-back in the Club World Cup this summer, so according to consistent media reports, the Royals will transfer ten million euros to LFC.
In Madrid, Alexander-Arnold has signed a six-year contract until June 30, 2031, and will compete with Dani Carvajal, who is currently recovering from a cruciate ligament rupture. Unlike the 33-year-old, however, Alexander-Arnold is an option with a future.
Meanwhile, English internationals seem to be in high demand in Spain’s capital. Real’s transfer of Bellingham, who made a big impact in his first season, was followed by Atletico’s deal with Conor Gallagher, who at 25 is also in his prime. It is therefore quite possible that England manager Thomas Tuchel will be a frequent visitor to Madrid in the future.
Alexander-Arnold’s departure from the Reds after 21 years was already official. The technically gifted right-footer, who is blessed with a particular strength in set pieces, was born in Liverpool. Alexander-Arnold came through the LFC youth ranks before being promoted to the first team in the summer of 2016.
Alexander-Arnold won the Champions League, the Club World Cup, the UEFA Super Cup, the Premier League, the FA Cup, and the League Cup with “his” club. His mission in Liverpool can therefore be considered “complete.” Bellingham can only have raved to him about the new challenge in Madrid, where his main customer is likely to be Kylian Mbappé in the future.
