The former US Open champion is unhappy with her late slot in the night session in Melbourne.
Former US Open champion Emma Raducanu has criticized the scheduling of her opening match at the Australian Open. It is “very difficult to schedule women’s matches after a potential five-set match” in the night session, said the 23-year-old: “It doesn’t make sense to me.”
The Briton will have to play the last match of the day at Margaret Court Arena in Melbourne on Sunday – following a potentially long match between Alexander Bublik (Kazakhstan) and Jenson Brooksby (USA). Her match could therefore start shortly before midnight.
Raducanu will face Thailand’s Mananchaya Sawangkaew in the first round. The Briton only traveled to Melbourne on Thursday after her quarterfinal defeat at the preparatory tournament in Hobart.
