Progress in recovery: But Sachsenring is still too early for Jorge Martin

Doctors give Jorge Martin the green light for a private test – Aprilia postpones decision – Doctors rule out racing at Sachsenring

Jorge Martin visited the Dexeus University Hospital in Barcelona today (June 30). His doctors assessed the healing process of the injuries he sustained on April 13 at the Qatar Grand Prix.

Doctors Xavier Mir and Angel Charte, along with radiologist Alejandra Banguero, carried out the examinations and noted significant progress. From a medical standpoint, his MotoGP comeback is getting closer.

The report on the scaphoid fracture states: “The left wrist shows good clinical progress with almost complete mobility in all ranges of motion of the scaphoid.

However, the fracture has not yet fully consolidated, although recovery continues to progress positively. In addition to the scaphoid bone, Martin also broke several ribs. Healing is also progressing in this regard.

The report states that pronounced callus formation can be seen on the examination images. Nevertheless, some of the fractures have not yet fully consolidated, with an estimated 80 to 90 percent healing.

Nevertheless, the doctors have concluded that the healing of the ribs is progressing very well overall. There will be another check-up in two weeks, which could be the last one in the best case scenario.

Finally, the report emphasizes that participation in the German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring is completely out of the question. However, the doctors have given the green light for a private test, which could take place on July 3 or 4 in Misano.

The original report from the doctors mentioned these dates as possible test days. Aprilia removed this information in a later version of the document and stated: “A decision on a private test will be made after further examination next week.”

In order for a rider to be allowed to conduct a private test, certain conditions must be met, all of which apply to Martin according to the amended regulations. He is allowed to test the RS-GP privately on one day and has a maximum of three sets of tires at his disposal.
