Only eight cars worldwide: Lamborghini unveils plans for new Temerario GT3

Lamborghini is launching the Temerario GT3—but only in small numbers: Who will be driving it in 2026, who will have to wait, and why Asia is missing out

Lamborghini has announced details of the delivery of the brand-new Temerario GT3: While one model will go to the Canadian Pfaff team, which is active in the US IMSA series, the remaining seven models of the new turbo car will be delivered in Europe.
Sportscar365 reports this, citing Lamborghini’s Chief Technical Officer Rouven Mohr, who has been interim head of motorsport since Maurizio Leschiutta’s departure. What exactly is the breakdown?

According to Mohr, four cars will compete in the DTM – two with the Grasser team and two with the Abt team. Three cars are ready for the GT World Challenge Europe (GTWCE). It is also known which teams will benefit from this.

Which three GTWCE teams will receive the Temerario?

In the GTWCE endurance series, one car will be fielded by the Grasser team and the other by the championship-winning Rutronik Racing team, which had opted for Porsche in 2025 and switched to Lamborghini at the end of the season.

The remaining third car will be used in the GTWCE sprint series and will go to Vincenzo Sospiri Racing (VSR). The cars are to be handed over to the four teams in February during joint tests organized by Lamborghini in Misano and Vallelunga.

As expected, Abt will not be using any new Temerario cars on the Nürburgring Nordschleife for the time being.  According to this, six to eight Temerario cars will be delivered worldwide in 2026.

More support effort the reason for low number of cars?

In the IMSA series, where the car is set to make its racing debut at the 12 Hours of Sebring on March 21, there will be only one car for the time being. A second could follow in 2027. Asia will be left completely empty-handed for the time being because, according to Mohr, the market is “not a priority.” In general, however, they are “pretty much” on schedule.

“It’s clear that you need a lot more support from the factory when you start with a new product,” Mohr explains to Sportscar365. “And since we are a small team, we couldn’t have done more even if we wanted to.”

Although only a limited number of cars are available, “the biggest limiting factor” is something else: “We want to ensure that everyone who uses a Temerario receives proper support from the factory.”

How many Temerario cars Lamborghini expects in 2027

According to Mohr, the two Temerario test cars used by Lamborghini itself have clocked up a total of over 15,000 kilometers. The car was homologated by the FIA back in October, and since then there have only been “minor” adjustments. In general, Mohr would like to use at least two Pro cars in all major championships. After the transition year of 2026, in which the Temerario will be used alongside the Huracan, the aim is to deliver significantly more vehicles in 2027.

The goal is to have 20 to 25 new GT3 cars in 2027, which would bring the total number of Temerario cars in use worldwide to around 30. While some areas of the new GT3 car’s production take place separately, the chassis is produced on the same production line as the production car, which has priority.
