MotoGP crash statistics 2025: The mid-season review before the summer break

185 crashes in twelve weekends: The MotoGP mid-season statistics are surprising – Who recorded the most crashes – One rider has not crashed at all

After twelve of 22 race weekends, MotoGP has entered its summer break. The season is already past the halfway point, but it’s a good time to take stock. This also applies to the crash statistics.

In the premier class, a total of 185 crashes were recorded during these twelve race weekends. That is significantly fewer than at this point last year. At that time, the statistics after Aragon, the twelfth race weekend, showed 203 crashes for MotoGP.

Two Honda riders currently lead these inglorious statistics. Joan Mir has crashed the most, with 15 crashes. This is hardly surprising, as the Spaniard has only managed to finish ten of a total of 24 races, including sprints.

But his Honda teammate Johann Zarco has also crashed 15 times. On the other hand, the Frenchman celebrated a triumphant home victory at Le Mans and then enjoyed further success with second place at Silverstone.

In the KTM camp, Brad Binder had the most crashes with 13. At Aprilia, it was Marco Bezzecchi with twelve. Yamaha rider Jack Miller also had twelve crashes. At Ducati, Alex Marquez was the rider who ended up on the ground most often with 13 crashes.

World championship dominator Marc Marquez had eight crashes. Compared to last year, the Spaniard has halved his rate, as he had 16 crashes at the same point in the season. Francesco Bagnaia currently has six crashes.

The distribution across brands is relatively similar. Ducati had the most crashes with 51, but there are also six Ducati riders in the field. The rate for the other brands with four bikes is as follows: Honda (38), Aprilia (35), KTM (32), Yamaha (29).

It is noteworthy that Luca Marini is the only regular rider who has not had a single crash. However, the Italian also missed three race weekends after sustaining several injuries in a crash during testing at Suzuka.

In the Moto3 class, there have been 204 crashes so far this season. Rookie Cormac Buchanan has crashed 18 times on his BOE-KTM. In the Moto2 class, there have been only 135 crashes. Tony Arbolino (Pramac) and Jorge Navarro (Forward) lead the statistics with eleven crashes each.

The weekend with the most crashes took place in May at Le Mans. A total of 70 incidents were counted in all three classes. This was also due to the changeable and rainy weather in France.
