The collaboration between Michael Jordan and broadcaster NBC has ended after a single interview. This was officially confirmed by host Mike Tirico.
“As far as I know, there are no plans at the moment, but it’s a possibility,” Tirico said this week on the “S.I. Media With Jimmy Traina” podcast when asked if there would be more content with MJ. “I hope there will be something else after that. Michael was great,” he added.
After Jordan was confirmed as part of the NBC crew for their return as NBA broadcasters in the summer, an interview between Tirico and the Bulls legend entitled “MJ: Insights To Excellence” followed at the start of the season. In the conversation, Jordan revealed private details and spoke of his “commitment” to making the NBA even better.
Jordan reportedly received several million dollars for interview
“Was it what everyone hoped it would be? Probably not,” Tirico admitted. “Was it better than not hearing anything from Michael Jordan? Absolutely. And if we get the chance to be there again, would I be more than thrilled? Definitely.” Jordan reportedly received several million dollars for his appearance on NBC. “In today’s world, everyone wants to make a final judgment before they even know all the facts. I thought it was great that Michael trusted us enough to sit down and do something he hadn’t done in a very, very, very long time,” he explained.
For the first time in over 20 years, NBC is broadcasting NBA games again this season. Among others, NBA legends Carmelo Anthony, Vince Carter, and Tracy McGrady are part of the crew.
