Great success for Nina Meinke. The German boxer is crowned double world champion in Hamburg.
Boxer Nina Meinke has been crowned double world champion. The Berlin native defeated Dyana Vargas from the Dominican Republic unanimously on points in Hamburg’s Fischauktionshalle on Friday evening and successfully defended her IBF featherweight belt. With her 21st victory in her 24th professional fight, she also secured the vacant IBO belt.
For Meinke, nicknamed “The Brave”, it is a great success after a difficult previous year. The 33-year-old was forced to take a three-month break following a slipped disc and then fought her way back bit by bit.
Meinke delighted with double title
“I knew it wasn’t going to be an easy twelve rounds. But it was just fun,“ said Meinke in the ring: ”It was a tough and emotional year 2025,“ added Meinke and thanked her team.
The goddaughter of former champion Sven Ottke has now successfully defended her IBF belt for the second time, which she won in a ”blood battle” against Argentina’s Daniela Bermudez in Hamburg in September 2024. Meinke put in a dominant performance over the men’s distance of twelve rounds of three minutes and never left any doubt about her victory.
