After being knocked out in the first round of the US Open, the 38-year-old is back on form.
Former Wimbledon semifinalist Tatjana Maria (Bad Saulgau) has reached the quarterfinals at the WTA tournament in Guadalajara. The 38-year-old defeated Rebecca Marino of Canada 6-3, 7-5, but her opponent in the round of eight has not yet been determined.
Maria, who was recently eliminated in the first round of the US Open, is the only German in the field in Guadalajara. In the battle for the semifinals, the world number 43 will now face top-seeded Belgian Elise Mertens or Elsa Jacquemot from France.
