Sabine Lisicki has put her tennis career on hold for the time being, but the former Wimbledon finalist will soon be back in the spotlight. The 35-year-old is returning to the small screen in December as an actress, with a guest role in her favorite series “Alles was zählt” (All That Matters) on RTL.
“I actually saw the very first episode of AWZ back then! And we’re on the tennis court, which is my home,“ explained Lisicki, who plays herself as a tennis coach in the three episodes scheduled to air between December 15 and 17, marking her acting debut. ”I love the challenge,” she said.
Lisicki has won four WTA titles in her career so far and achieved her greatest success by reaching the final at Wimbledon in 2013. After several difficult years marked by injuries, Lisicki retired from the tour entirely in 2024 due to pregnancy. She became a mother in September last year and has recently been working on her professional comeback.
“The biggest challenge is the lack of sleep,” Lisicki explained, “especially as an athlete. Recovery after hard training sessions is really important, and with a baby, that’s not always as easy as you’d like it to be.”
