Kimmich praises the team: “We need everyone right now”

FC Bayern returns from Cyprus with three points after defeating Pafos FC. Joshua Kimmich praised the squad after the game, while Harry Kane expressed sympathy for the opponents.

The first meeting between Pafos FC and FC Bayern was basically decided after the first 45 minutes. Mislav Orsic did nail the ball into the right corner of the Bayern goal shortly before half-time, but Munich had already scored four times before that.

“I thought the first half was good,” Joshua Kimmich said after the game on Prime Video. The midfielder returned to the starting lineup after two Bundesliga games as a substitute and saw Nicolas Jackson score his first goal in a Bayern jersey, Raphael Guerreiro finish off a fine move, and Harry Kane score twice. “He’s doing well at the moment. It helps us a lot when he scores two or three goals every game,” said Kimmich about the Englishman, who scored his 16th and 17th goals of the season in his ninth competitive game.

Kimmich praises Pafos: “They can get on the nerves of one or two opponents.”

In the second half, the pressure from Munich initially eased. Pafos was unable to capitalize with further goals, but did create more chances of its own. “In the second half, we realized that it can’t be so easy against them either. They have skills that can get on the nerves of one or two opponents,” Kimmich said of the opposition.

However, the Cypriots were unable to harm FC Bayern on Tuesday evening, because, according to double goalscorer Kane: “They played against us at what was, unfortunately for them, a very good moment.” Kimmich echoed this sentiment after the ninth win in nine competitive games: “Of course, everyone can feel that we are on a roll at the moment.” However, the defensive midfielder emphasized immediately afterwards: “It’s important that everyone in the dressing room understands that this comes from hard work. It’s no coincidence that we’re getting good results.”

“We need everyone at the moment” – Frankfurt awaits on Saturday

Kimmich finally gave special praise to goalscorer Guerreiro: “When I see how Rafa played today. He hasn’t played much this season. It’s really valuable when even the players who don’t play as much give their all in training every day and are there when they’re needed. We need everyone at the moment.” The national team player is likely to be right: on Saturday, the Bundesliga away game at Eintracht Frankfurt is already coming up.
