Golden Shoe: Kane regains the lead – Luis Diaz climbs 23 places

Harry Kane is once again the sole leader of the Golden Shoe rankings. His teammate Luis Diaz climbs 23 places thanks to his hat trick against Hoffenheim.

Luis Diaz was the player of the match in FC Bayern Munich’s latest Bundesliga game. He scored three times in the match against TSG Hoffenheim (5-1). It was also the Colombian’s first hat trick for the Munich team. The three goals also helped him make a big leap in the Golden Shoe rankings: Last week he was still in 37th place, but now he is in 14th. The striker made up a total of 23 places and thus caught up considerably.

The duel between the pursuers

Harry Kane also scored in the match. The Englishman converted two penalties to make it 1-0 and 2-1. This allowed him to pull away from reigning Golden Shoe winner Kylian Mbappé with 48 points (24 goals).

The gap between the Frenchman and Kane remains minimal—just two points, or one goal, separates the two. In stoppage time, Mbappé scored for Real Madrid in their away game at Valencia CF to make it 2-0.

After failing to score recently, Erling Haaland was back on target for Manchester City last weekend. The Norwegian converted a penalty in the 2-1 win at Liverpool FC, keeping him within striking distance of the top of the table.

Kane and Luis Diaz are not the only Bundesliga pros in the rankings, by the way. Haris Tabakovic and Michael Olise are currently tied for 43rd place with ten goals each. Deniz Undav is slightly better off in 30th place with eleven goals. However, the three are currently stagnating in the rankings as they have not scored in the league for some time.
