Charles Leclerc will not visit the track in Imola today: According to Ferrari, the Monegasque driver is feeling unwell
Charles Leclerc will not be at the track in Imola on Thursday and will therefore not be available for media appointments at Ferrari’s first home Grand Prix of the year. According to the team, the Monegasque driver is “not feeling well” and has therefore decided not to visit the race track, as confirmed by the team on social media.
“Charles is feeling unwell and will not be coming to the track today,” the team said in a statement. “He will rest and focus on his recovery – we expect him to be back in the car tomorrow.” Ferrari has not released any further details about Leclerc’s illness.
Leclerc was not scheduled to attend today’s official FIA press conferences in Imola, but would have spoken to media representatives in the paddock ahead of tomorrow’s practice sessions.
His first public appearance at the traditional circuit is now expected to take place before the first free practice session on Friday morning (May 16).
The team is hoping for a quick recovery for Leclerc, as it expects better results in Imola than it did recently in Miami. The track layout in Italy is said to suit the SF-25 better than the circuit in Florida.
Ferrari is also bringing its first update package for the 2025 season to the track this weekend. Although this is not too extensive, a major upgrade is already planned for the Spanish Grand Prix later this month.
Leclerc is not the first driver to skip Media Thursday this year. Red Bull driver Max Verstappen was not present in Miami two weeks ago and arrived later.
The Dutchman skipped the media day to spend time with his partner Kelly Piquet and their newborn daughter, who was born the week before the race.
