DTM out for rookie champion! Here’s what Morris Schuring’s schedule looks like for 2026

Morris Schuring has confirmed his schedule for the 2026 season: What the Porsche youngster will be doing instead of the DTM and which classic car Güven has been confirmed for

The future of DTM rookie champion Morris Schuring has been decided: The 20-year-old Dutchman, who drove a third 911 GT3 R for the Porsche Team Manthey in the DTM in 2025 and finished on the podium at the final weekend in Hockenheim, will compete in the GT World Challenge Europe (GTWCE) in 2026 in addition to the five endurance races in the US IMSA series.

He will be driving for the Boutsen VDS team, which is switching from Mercedes-AMG to Porsche in 2026 and is managed by Olivia Boutsen, sister of former Formula 1 driver Thierry Boutsen. “I will be driving in all the races in the GT World Challenge Endurance Cup and three of the five races in the Sprint Cup, as the other two clash with my American program,” Schuring clarified at the presentation at the Brussels Motor Show.

This means that, in addition to the five IMSA events in the USA, Schuring will compete in eight GTWCE weekends in Europe: he will share the Porsche with Frenchman Dorian Boccolacci in the three Sprint Series races, while Belgian Alessio Picariello will join the team for his main program in the endurance series.

Two DTM drivers to race for Boutsen-VDS team in 2026

Apart from the 24-hour classic in Daytona, which Schuring will contest in the Manthey Porsche at the end of the month, the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps at the end of June will be the highlight of his European program.

Schuring is particularly pleased that his Boutsen Porsche is registered in the Pro class, where the battle for overall victory is usually fought. “It’s one of two Porsches in the Pro class,” confirms the former Le Mans class winner. “I feel honored that they chose me for this, and it also shows that Porsche has confidence in me.”

Incidentally, Schuring is not the only DTM driver from the 2025 season who will be competing for the Belgian Boutsen team this year: Belgian Gilles Magnus, who drove for Comtoyou-Aston-Martin in 2025 and secured the team’s first pole position at Hockenheim, will be driving the team’s second Porsche in both GTWCE series in 2026, sharing it with Sweden’s Robin Knutsson.

Güven confirmed for the 24 Hours of Daytona

Now that Schuring’s program for 2026 has been finalized, it is clear that he will not be competing in the DTM this year. Instead, Manthey will reduce its program in the traditional series from three to two cars and is planning with Thomas Preining and Ricardo Feller.

It is well known that DTM champion Ayhancan Güven will not be part of the lineup. The Turkish driver, who is moving towards Formula E, will drive a Porsche 911 GT3 R for Manthey in the World Endurance Championship (WEC), sharing the car with Timur Boguslavski and James Cottingham.

He has also been nominated for the endurance classic in Daytona, where he will share the “Grello” Porsche with top drivers Preining, Feller, and Klaus Bachler. “I was able to enjoy this race for the first time last year. But missing out on victory by 1.5 seconds left a bitter taste in my mouth at the end,“ Güven said on Instagram. ”Now I’m back.”
