Another blow for Tsitsipas

Stefanos Tsitsipas is unable to get back on track under star coach Goran Ivanisevic. The Greek player has abruptly ended their collaboration.

Stefanos Tsitsipas has parted ways with star coach Goran Ivanisevic after just two ATP tournaments!

The Greek announced this on social media on Wednesday night.

“Working with Goran Ivanisevic was a short but intense experience and a really valuable chapter in my journey,” Tsitsipas wrote on Instagram.

Tsitsipas bids farewell to Ivanisevic

“I am very grateful for his time and the energy he put into the project we worked on together. I have nothing but respect for Goran, not only for his achievements, but also for his personality,” Tsitsipas continued, wishing the Croatian all the best.

After the first-round exit at Wimbledon, Ivanisevic had been harsh with his former protégé. “He wants to, but he doesn’t do anything. It’s always ‘I want, I want,’ but I don’t see any progress,”

Tsitsipas’ dry spell continues

Ivanisevic, who had previously coached Novak Djokovic, joined Tsitsipas’ coaching team after the French Open. The Greek player was knocked out in the second round of the grass court tournament in Halle/Westphalia and withdrew from Wimbledon after losing the first two sets in the first round.

Tsitsipas recently lost both of his singles matches at the Hopman Cup team event. Since his triumph in Dubai in early March, Tsitsipas has not made it past the quarterfinals in any tournament, not even under Ivanisevic. Now, surprisingly, the collaboration has already come to an end.
