Altmaier loses first round match in Indian Wells

The Masters in Indian Wells is over quickly for Daniel Altmaier. He loses in the first round, the long wait overnight was in vain

Tennis pro Daniel Altmaier has been knocked out of the Masters in Indian Wells in the first round. Altmaier lost 4:6, 3:6 against the French qualifier Lucas Pouille.

The match was postponed on Wednesday at 1:2, 30:0 on Altmaier’s serve due to the persistent rainfall in the Californian desert. Three German tennis players are now in the second round of the hard-court tournament with prize money of 12.4 million US dollars. Olympic champion Alexander Zverev and Jan-Lennard Struff each had a bye in the first round in California. Zverev will play Christopher O’Connell from Australia in the second round. Dominik Koepfer, on the other hand, was eliminated after losing 3:6, 6:1, 6:7 (3:7) to Alexander Shevchenko from Kazakhstan
